Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Product Development Lead to drive our product innovation and development efforts in the food decorating category (think frosting and sprinkles!!). This role reports to the VP of Marketing and requires a dynamic individual who can gather and analyze data, identify new product opportunities, recommend new product ideas and work with cross-functional partners in Marketing, Sales and Operations to turn those ideas into omni-channel revenue opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for market trends and a passion for delighting consumers with products that satisfy their desire to decorate cookies, cakes, cocktails and more for their friends and family.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Product Development Strategy: Drive the development of innovative food decorating products, ensuring they align with brand standards, market demands, and revenue/profit goals.
  • Market Research & Trend Analysis: Stay ahead of industry trends by analyzing market data, customer feedback, and competitor insights to guide product innovation.
  • Omni-Channel Sales Integration: Develop and manage a robust portfolio including innovation, renovation and rationalization of products to support sales in sell-in across multiple channels including mass retailers, traditional grocery, natural channel, Club and online.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, operations (particularly sourcing) and manufacturing teams to bring new products from concept to launch.
  • Presentation & Communication: Prepare and present product recommendations supported by business cases and trend reports to ensure strategic alignment with company objectives and customer opportunities.
  • Supply Chain & Manufacturing Coordination: Partner with suppliers and Operations team to ensure efficient production, high quality, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in product development workflows to enhance efficiency and speed to market.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in product development, ideally within the food categories of baking or decorating.
  • Strategic Thinking: Able to assess industry trends, customer needs and consumer insights and transition them into relevant commercial opportunities. Licensing experience a plus.
  • Data-Driven Decision Maker: Ability to analyze data and translate into actionable product strategies.
  • Project Manager: Able to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and drive results; experience with Project Management platforms (e.g. Asana) a plus.
  • Strong Communicator: Exceptional presentation and communication skills to effectively convey product vision and strategy to internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaborative & Adaptable: Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid work model available, with a preference for candidates located in or within driving distance of Corte Madera, CA.
  • This role requires occasional travel for industry trade shows, factory visits, and client meetings.
