Electrical Estimator

A leading electrical contractor with a strong reputation for excellence in complex commercial and institutional projects is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their preconstruction team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver competitive and accurate bids.

Role Overview:

As the Estimator, you’ll be responsible for leading the estimating process for large-scale electrical construction projects. You’ll work closely with project stakeholders to develop pricing strategies, analyze drawings and specifications, and prepare comprehensive proposals. Your leadership will help shape the estimating department’s standards and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for electrical systems in commercial, multi-family, institutional, and life science projects.
• Interpret construction documents, specifications, and design narratives to develop accurate pricing.
• Identify and propose value-engineering options to optimize project costs.
• Draft scope letters, bid proposals, and vendor outreach communications.
• Participate in site walks, pre-bid meetings, and client consultations.
• Lead departmental initiatives including training, process improvement, and database management.
• Review and refine estimates prepared by others to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Support operations teams with project handoffs, clearly communicating scope, specifications, and site conditions.
• Assist with change orders and cost-to-complete evaluations for ongoing projects.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical estimating
• Strong understanding of electrical codes and engineering principles (e.g., voltage drop, conduit fill, ampacity).
• Proficiency in estimating software such as Accubid, LiveCount, McCormick, or ConEst.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and digital takeoff tools.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Collaborative team player who can lead and mentor others effectively.
