Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the General Superintendent, the CDL Driver is responsible for the operation of equipment including, but not limited to tandems, triaxles, end dumps and/or mixer trucks). 

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs pre-tip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and DDM policies and procedures. Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage before and after route.

2. Complies with all DOT (Department of Transportation) standards and regulations.

3. Able to operate manual transmission.

4. Knowledge of diverse types of truck operating and willingness to learn and be trained on such. (E.g. tandems, triaxles, end dumps and mixer trucks)

5. Keeps their truck and associated equipment clean and in good working condition.

6. Safely drives truck to and from destination applying knowledge of DOT driving regulations and area roads.

7. Assists other company employees as needed.

8. Must be able to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, DEGREE, AND/OR LICENSE:

1. High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education degree (GED) preferred; three (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL Class A)

3. Current Medical Certificate Examination Card. 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

1. 5 years of experience in construction preferred.

2. Ability to interpret, read manuals, and understand reports.

3. Ability to prioritize, organize work and meet deadlines.

4. MVR-No DUI’s or DWI’s in the last 5 years, no more than 3 moving violations in the previous 3 years

5. Willingness to work in harsh environment, harsh weather conditions in hot and extreme cold.

6. Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team and to communicate effectively with site personnel.

7. Experience in the Construction industry is a plus.
